We have had some problems lately with proper procedure after an ejection and I
have have been the recipient of several phone calls from Ron Allen of the
FHSAA.
Simply put, after an ejection, the official who ejected the player or coach
must:
1) Fax, within 24 hours, to the FHSAA a copy of the
Unsportsmanlike Conduct Incident Report Form
(352) 372-9086
2) Fax, within 24 hours, if it is a Western Conference
school, a copy to the Director of Athletics of the School District of
Hillsborough County (Vernon Korhn) (813)
740-3977
3) Fax, within 24 hours, a copy to me (Jon Decker)
(813) 920-7022. I will e-mail
the report to the President and the Basketball Board.
Failure to fax to the FHSAA within 24 hours of
an ejection subjects you to a $100 fine and we have some
people who can verify that they enforce this penalty on the official.
As always, I am here to help you through this process. I should never get a
call from a school's athletic director telling me that he called the FHSAA and
they have no record or report of an ejection.
When Ron Allen of the FHSAA calls me, that means an official not only failed
to send in the ejection report within the alloted time period of 24 hours, but
that several days have passed.
