Committees

The committees are finalized with the necessity for Jack Brown to replace one person who couldn’t serve and Jack will interview three volunteers and select one on the Evaluations committee. Chris Callaway was replaced as chairman by Bobby Payton and Eric Hunter will be the new member on the Recommendations committee.

The evaluations will be on a form as recommended by the Evaluations committee; a more basic simpler form for 1, 2, 3 rated officials to be more meaningful as far as evaluation content.  The evaluators will be the Evaluations committee plus selected others, including as board members, with the committee assigning evaluators to officials. The completed forms will be scanned into the web site for review by the members and the board,

A different group of senior officials will be selected to evaluate the 3, and 4 rated officials, utilizing a different set of criteria, possibly using a modified form of the FHSAA evaluation form. These evaluators will be selected from senior qualified members using the 3 part form developed by Leo Sykes, with these forms being provided onsite to the members, a copy for the web site and a copy for the committee.

Leo will convene his retention and recruitment committee working on a mentor program with senior officials to assist newer officials and project a completion by the half day clinic; and the expectation is that selected 4s and 5s will be mentors. Leo or the committee chairman will have a brief presentation at the Wednesday meeting.  The Recruitment committee will also have a brief presentation Wednesday; The Events committee is ongoing; pending survey results with the new people to be surveyed Wednesday

Middle School Basketball

The online registration form loaded to web site and is currently in use.   Chris is working with Thom Powers to confirm all requirements met for the all officials. They will concentrate on the new officials in order to have them eligible to do middle school and JV games in order to complete the requirements. The September middle school games have been booked and Chris will phase all new officials into the bookings once the requirements are met.

bullet The Booking commissioners will work with the assignments  committee to ensure members are in Arbiter at the correct level prior to assigning future games.

Half day clinic

Chuck Kindred is working with Bobby Reinhart at Berkeley Prep and has finalized 10/27 as the date. The board will work together with training director Ed Sidlasky, to establish the criteria for the clinic as well as solicit clinicians from the senior 4 and 5 rated officials.  Chuck is working to have teams available for some type of scrimmages, potentially 8 teams. The board proposes to concentrate on having floor activities for the new, plus 1, 2 and 3 ranked officials on the on floor, while the 4 and 5 ranked officials concentrate more on classroom and mentors activities. By the next board meeting, this will be reviewed with Ed Sidlasky and the plan is to have video cameras on both floors, and have film breakdown with the new people.  The projected tip off is at 08:30

New Business

Booking Policies

bulletIf members are available and do not accept assigned games , there will be a $15 fine  
bulletOnce the game is accepted and then turned back up to 48 hours before the scheduled game time, the fine will be $25.
bulletAfter the 48 hour window, if a game is then turned back, the fine will be a game fee fine.

Scrimmage game assignments

Jeff Albers and Chris Callaway trying to get date from Hillsborough county as to when the coaches meeting will be held in order to introduce the booking commissioners to the coaches as well as give them information on obtaining officials for their scrimmages.

bullet Scrimmages will be assigned through Arbiter

 Wednesday meeting agenda

bulletClem will open with a brief statement on the association as a whole as well as basketball and provide closure to all pending items.
bulletJim Eckler will review the bylaw revisions and request a vote.
bulletAll new officials will be recognized and the 16 will be presented certificates.
bullet Awards to be presented including a special presentation to Jon Decker
bullet Chris will be introduced and announce the Arbiter and booking requirements, handing out middle school forms.
bullet Thom will cover procedures.
bullet New officials will be met with after the meeting.
