05/21/03- Attendees: John Adejunmobi,
Jack Brown Jon Decker, Jim Eckler, Mike Hegarty, Mike Crosslin, Matt Geer
Discussed the 2003 WCOA camp at USF
3-crew camp scheduled for father's day weekend: clinicians mostly confirmed, 41 current campers registered, members
identified to
contact about attending camp, classroom topics to be fleshed out at next
meeting, filming and review of films to be arranged. Court schedules will be
review over the next four weeks, the groups must ensure that all funds received are used for basketball
activities, the classification of campers will occur next meeting, and a schedule of games for Sunday
will be finalized. The guest speaker still needs to be determined. Jim
Eckler will contact the WCOA member clinicians who have not committed. Mike
Crosslin will review Lake Region's availability with Alan Reed.
Camp evaluation techniques : The board will
review the method of preferred for provided timely and receptive feedback to
campers, so as to be able to present information that will allow the campers to
improve or recognize areas which need to be addressed. The camp will make use of
training films, classroom sessions and evaluator-camper film feedback to bolster
critiques and receptiveness.
Officials evaluation during the season: We will
have a better defined group of evaluators who will provide accurate and timely
feedback. Suggestions to critiques are during the half time of the varsity game,
through as phone call initiated by the person being evaluated. or via online
forms, preferably through a one on one feedback. The evaluations committee
will review a demo of All Sports Officiating to determine if their online
evaluation will suffice. Danny Vasquez will present a proposal at one of the
next summer meetings. The visibility of some officials is a problem and the
board will investigate the purchase of a camcorder as well as obtaining game
tapes from selected coaches.
