WCOA Basketball Committees
Evaluations/Training:
Charter :
is responsible for setting up
the process and selecting those individuals who shall assist with the
evaluation of member officials within the association It shall be the goal of
this committee to ensure that each official with two (2) or more years of
experience is evaluated, at least, once during the season and that each first
and second year official is evaluated periodically during the season so that
good officiating skills are developed and reinforced. First year officials
will be evaluated periodically during the season, with mini-camps being
offered if necessary to re-enforce good officiating skills. This committee
shall be responsible for the coordination of all training exercises for
beginning and new officials.

Assignments:
Charter
: Is responsible for reviewing the contest assignment procedure within the
WCOA, ensuring compliance with requirements on officiating crew composition,
reviewing the game assignments, and making the Basketball
Bookings commissioners aware of any corrections that need to be made. This
includes ensuring compliance with requirements on the composition of
officiating crews, reviewing and approving each member official's schedule of
assigned contests, and making Jon Decker/Matt Geer aware of any corrections to
be made before the assignment schedule is submitted to the membership. It is
not implied that the Assignment Committee is to make assignments.

Recommendations:
Charter :
Is responsible for reviewing the regular season evaluations of the officials and
preparing a list of officials recommended for State Series assignment to the FHSAA office. Officials on this list must have been approved by majority vote of
the members present and voting, must be in good standing both with the FHSAA and
WCOA, and must meet all applicable FHSAA qualifying criteria.

Grievance:
Charter : Is
responsible
for setting up the process and hearing complaints and appeals from association
members.
Member officials who have
grievances because of penalties may appeal under the provisions of the WCOA
By-laws. The
committee shall review each case and make a recommendation to the Basketball
Board, which will approve it or if rejected, will be in a the form of a written
notification signed by the vice president of basketball. All requests for a
meeting with the grievance committee will be initiated through the online form
on the web site or in writing to the Chairman of the committee. All grievance
hearings will be conducted prior to a scheduled basketball membership meeting
and MUST be scheduled in advance. No individual committee member will
entertain grievances from members unless made formally through the request
process.

Elections:
Charter : Is responsible for conducting all WCOA
basketball elections in an open format, ensuring that all candidates are
represented, that all election processes adhere to WCOA guidelines, that the
ballots are counted in a timely manner with candidates present for the
tallying of ballots if desired. This committee will collect and tabulate all
absentee ballots by the deadlines established prior to the election and will
report all results at the next available membership meeting.

Events:
Charter : Is responsible for planning all WCOA
activities such as banquets,
golf tournaments, award presentation to the entire WCOA, or any other event
so deemed by the basketball and football boards. All activities will be
reviewed by the Executive Committee for funding and approval.
