Are you interested in officiating
basketball in the Florida Hillsborough or Pasco county areas? The West Coast
Officials Association provides referees for all middle school, JV and senior
high school games in these counties, as well as various high school summer and
recreational leagues.
All applicants must successfully
complete a three day training clinic before they will be assigned games, which is offered free of charge. If you are interested in joining our
organization, please complete the form below. In addition, all officials
are required to take a FHSAA national sponsored rules test yearly. Per state
guidelines, you must be at least 18 years of age to officiate in Florida,
although mentor programs are available for younger individuals.
All New Official clinics
for the 2007-08 season and association meeting dates will be posted in Arbiter,
as well as on the basketball page. The application process includes
registration with the WCOA plus fee paid to the treasurer, registration with the FHSAA plus fee,
the state mandatory finger printing and background check, and purchase the proper uniform including jacket. All meeting dates
will be published on the web site. After the season begins, assignment schedules will be
available via the Arbiter software scheduler.
